ARGENTINA 2009

Oh how wonderful it is to be in Argentina with Meg and Tony - especially when it is freezing back home. We have done lots of walking and have enjoyed some very good wines, empanadas, asados, and pizzas. We have visited two different Methodist churches and we have visited Buenos Aires where Tony was granted a one year tourist visa for the US which will help make it possible for Meg and Tony to visit the US next summer. We leave tomorrow, but part of us will always stay here.

The Curse is Broken

Ron had a great fishing day on Sunday, July 12th. Sunday evening we ate Bass for dinner. He also caught lots of Cod and Rock fish. I am using one piece of Cod (1 of 4 fillets) for ceviche today. We will also have crab meat with pasta.

Best of all, I loved finding the little fish places on the Garibaldi Pier. We camped out on Saturday and ate fresh oysters that we grilled over an open flame until they opened. Umm umm.

The weather was NorthWest cooperative. There were a few showers, but mostly when I was in the tent, so I stayed dry. The winds were calm and the temperatures in the 60s.

Cold in Oregon

We have been enjying Amy, Scott, Gus, Iris and Agnes - but the weather is not being cooperative. It's cold outside - presently 64 degrees at 11:30 AM.

Ron's vegetable garden is doing well. It may be small, but at least he has a few palnts to keep his fingers in the dirt. I am overwhelmed with the flowers. I will slowly move towards as many native plants as possible. That will mean less watering. We had to pick three buckets of plums off the trees since they are so loaded with fruit. One branch already broke under the weight.

The next few weeks will be crazy. We will slow down a bit in August.
